OTR Extends Naming Rights of Supersprint at the Bend

After last year’s spectacular inaugural event, the 2018 OTR Supersprint, we are pleased to announce that OTR has signed a three-year deal to continue its naming rights sponsorship of this Supercar championship event, which returns to Australia’s newest race track, The Bend Motorsport Park, from Friday 23 August to Sunday 25 August 2019.

Last year’s inaugural race saw 41,250 motorsport fans attend the race from all corners of the country, with over 1.25 million viewers tuning in from around the world to watch the race.

Managing Director at The Bend Dr Sam Shahin said, “We had overwhelmingly positive feedback from the drivers, teams and fans who loved the facilities, track and close access to drivers and their cars in the pit area.”

Erebus Motorsport supercar driver David Reynolds who enjoyed a podium in the second race of the 2018 event claimed, “The Bend is the best thing that has happened to Australian motorsport for 20 years.”

Triple Eight team owner Roland Dane said, “It’s been brilliant to see so many people come and support it from the South Australian community.”

Naming rights sponsor OTR is an Australian-owned convenience retailer that with over 145 convenience stores across South Australia and Victoria. OTR stores are open 24/7 and offer barista-made C Coffee together with famous food brands like Oporto, Subway and Krispy Kreme, all under the one roof.

OTR CEO Warren Wilmot said of the partnership, “OTR is thrilled to commit to a three-year partnership enabling the community and motorsport fans the opportunity to enjoy this exciting event. For OTR it is important to support the community, which we do through event partnerships and our recently launched innovative retail giving program OTRGive, which has seen us donate over $77,000 to community groups in need.”

Dr Shahin continued, “The event was incredibly supported last year, and we look forward to showing returning visitors the developments across the park since the last event. The addition of our BIG4 Holiday Park provides another opportunity for fans to stay at the park, with only a short walk to the main pit building and circuit. For newcomers, the atmosphere around the park during a Supercars event is very special and a perfect time to visit.”

“Regardless of your ticket type, fans can watch the race from different viewpoints around the whole track which is one of the great advantages of a permanent circuit. Fans loved the accessibility we offer at The Bend together with the opportunity to roam the paddock and get up close to the support category garages and pit lane garages. Every spectator can access this area for free, which is rare across the Supercars calendar,” Dr Shahin concluded.
