2018 I Choose SA Day Media Release

South Australia’s largest private employer and leading retailer, OTR, will celebrate ‘I Choose SA Day’ on Saturday 27 October by selling the Iconic Balfours Mini Frog Cake for one day only at 87 locations across South Australia.

To help celebrate ‘I Choose SA Day,’ OTR has brought together over 200 South Australian products they stock and support. These South Australian items were assembled into a map of the state to showcase all of the amazing local products on offer to its customers 24/7 in store. By stocking these products, OTR continues to support South Australian manufacturing and suppliers, ensuring local production remains strong.

OTR is a proudly South Australian family business, who has operated for over 30 years. Growing from a humble petrol station in Woodville to 144 stores across metropolitan Adelaide and regional South Australia, OTR now services almost all of the state’s population.

By choosing to operate in SA, OTR employs over 3,000 South Australians, making it the largest private employer in the state with their parent company, Peregrine Corporation, employing a further 400 local South Australians across all sites including the new Motorsport facility, The Bend.

Simon Rudduck, Head of Brand says, “At OTR, we believe in South Australia and we love the ‘I Choose SA Day’ campaign because it highlights when you choose SA products and services, you are helping to employ local people and create a positive impact on our state’s economy”.

Mr Rudduck continues, “Choosing SA is also a big part of OTRGive, which gives customers the choice of 36 amazing community partners on the OTR App to receive donations, who were chosen specifically because they are providing services in the local SA community.”

OTR is always open with everything you need including SA-roasted barista made C Coffee, EAT on the go meals and snacks using SA companies like Vili’s Bakery and Sunfresh Salads, supermarket items such as Lenswood Apples, Rhode’s Eggs, Richard Gunner Fine Meats and Fleurieu Milk, Moe’s Dog & Shake hot dogs and shakes made using Barossa Fine Foods franks, Beerenberg condiments and Golden North soft serve.

Many OTR stores are also home to favourite food stops like Oporto and Subway, using fresh local salad ingredients, plus Brumby’s which uses Laucke Flour. Wherever possible OTR works with and supports South Australian suppliers and companies to promote our state.

“As part of ‘I Choose SA Day’ we also have clear labelling on all of our SA products to encourage everyone to discover and buy local at OTR which supports our great state of South Australia,” Mr Rudduck said.
